Andrea Lin – IRMA 2021 Volunteer of the Year

Congratulations to Andrea Lin, Publisher, Texas Highways, IRMA Conference Planning Committee Chair, and our virtual conference MC, for earning the title of Volunteer of the Year for her dedication to IRMA!

A great comic strip character inspired by a great sixteenth-century theologian once said “I’m a simple man with complex tastes.” Andrea is not entirely sure what that means, but she thinks that it is probably a pretty good description of herself.

Andrea joined Texas Highways, owned by the Texas Department of Transportation, in the summer of 2015 as the Marketing and Circulation Manager, becoming Publisher / Section Director of Travel Publications in December 2017. She oversees operations and management for all projects and products in the section, including the magazine, website, the annual Texas State Travel Guide and Map, the quarterly Texas Highways Events Calendar, and more.

In her previous life, Andrea was a Media Director at GSD&M, a full-service advertising agency in Austin, working with clients such as MasterCard, Chipotle, US Air Force, and pitching new business.

Andrea is driven by work that is analytic and creative; delighting in the tension and interplay between the two. She values wisdom, competence, accuracy, and meaningful connections. Her compulsions include doing as much as possible in Excel, organizing information, the futile attempt to understand everything, making playlists, and wanting to nap.

She graduated the University of Texas at Austin in 2005 with a B.S. in Advertising.
